Signing in

The whole Bible, its footnotes and cross-references, the reading plans and the chapter audio work without an account. You only need to sign in to use Full Access.

Signing in here signs you in to the shared Berean Life account — the same account Berean Quest uses. Inside the app the only method offered is an email address and a password; the website offers more ways to sign in.

What that collects is your account email address and your account id. Nothing else is asked for: no name, no birthdate, no phone number, no postal address, no contacts, no location, no photos.

Authentication is handled by Better Auth running on the Berean Life account server, which is the Berean Quest server. Better Auth is our own server code, not an outside service we hand you to. While a sign-in session is alive that server also stores the session's IP address and browser or device user-agent string, the ordinary record of where a session was opened from; it goes when the session goes.

Notes, highlights and inductive studies stay on this device

Everything you write in the Study Bible — verse notes, highlighted verses, favorites, inductive studies and the answers in them — is saved on the device you wrote it on. It is not uploaded, it is not on any server of ours, and it is not attached to your account.

This is enforced, not merely promised. Since release #112 on September 25, 2026 the upload modules are deleted from the code, a test fails if any part of the app calls a notes, highlight or study endpoint, and the store-bundle check refuses to ship an app build that carries such a call.

Because they live only on the device, deleting the app removes them, and so does clearing this browser's storage. There is no copy on our side — which also means we cannot restore what a lost device took with it.

Full Access and payment

Full Access is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It is held on your Berean Life account and honored in both the Study Bible and Berean Quest. The app asks the account server whether the account has it and does nothing else with it; it never grants access on the device.

On the website, Full Access is bought through Stripe. Stripe takes the payment details on its own checkout page. We never see a card number and this app stores none.

In the app-store versions, buying inside the app is not live yet; today the app only reads the Full Access your account already has. When in-app purchase does ship, the purchase is taken by the app store's own billing — Apple, Google Play or Amazon — and recorded by RevenueCat against your Berean Life account id, so the entitlement follows the account onto every device you sign in on. The app store handles the money; the app never sees a card number.

What the app reads from our servers

Commentary from the six classic authors, Spurgeon's sermons and works, the reference guide and the concordance are fetched from berean-life.com as you open them. Chapter audio is streamed from openbible.com.

When you tap a word to look it up in the concordance, that word is sent to a public endpoint that answers it with a no-store response. It is not written to a profile and not kept in a log of what you read. We build no reading history and no interest profile.

There is no advertising anywhere in this app, at any tier. The app initializes no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no third-party tracker and no attribution SDK. There is no advertising identifier and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.

Deleting your account

In the app, open Me and use Delete account. It deletes the shared Berean Life account through that account's own deletion endpoints, which have been live on production since September 26, 2026. The same deletion is available on the website from your Berean Life account page, and if you would rather ask a person, write to us and we will do it for you.

Deleting is deleting, not a hidden flag. It removes the account, its sign-in records and sessions, and its Full Access entitlements — in the Study Bible and in Berean Quest alike, because it is one account.

Two things it does not touch. The notes, highlights and studies on your device are left exactly where they are, because they were never on the server; delete the app to remove them. And the app store you bought through keeps its own receipt of the purchase, as does Stripe for a purchase made on the website — those records are the store's and the payment processor's, kept for refunds, disputes and tax.

Who processes this for us, and for how long

The account email address, the account id, sessions and entitlements are kept until the account is deleted; a session record expires on its own before that. What you write stays on your device until you remove it.

A handful of companies handle parts of this on our instructions:

Vercel — hosting for the app, the website and the account server.
Supabase — the database the account, its sessions and its entitlements live in, reached through the Berean Life account server.
Resend — sends sign-in and password-reset email.
Stripe — payments made on the website.
RevenueCat — purchases made inside a store app, once in-app purchase ships.

Processors, not partners

Each of those is a processor, not a partner in ministry. They handle what the job needs, on our instructions, under their own published policies, and we send them nothing beyond that. We do not sell your data, rent it, or append it to a marketing list.

Better Auth is deliberately not on that list: it is the sign-in code running on our own server, not an outside service.

Children

The Berean Life Study Bible is intended for readers 13 and older. It has no child mode and no child profiles, and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
