Berean Life

Berean Life exists to help people become followers of Jesus Christ and to deepen their relationship with Him. That is the whole of the work. We write software because the church already has the Book, and we want that Book to be easier to search, easier to learn, and harder to forget — especially in a home where children and parents are reading it together.

Why we are called Berean

The name comes from a small notice in the book of Acts. When the apostle Paul preached in Berea, the people there did not swallow his words whole, and they did not reject them out of hand. They received the message eagerly, then opened the Scriptures every day to see whether these things were so. That is the posture we want for ourselves and for everyone who uses what we build.

Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.

Acts 17:11 is not a slogan we print on a mug. It is a building rule. If a feature would make it harder to get to the text, or would substitute our words for the words of Scripture, we leave it out. If a game question cannot be answered from the passage itself, it does not ship. The Bereans examined the Scriptures. We intend to do the same.

What we hold

We receive the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired and inerrant Word of God. Our study is expository and text-driven. We are not interested in novelty, in private revelation that sits above the Bible, or in a commentary that talks past the verse it claims to explain. The text is the teacher. Our work is to put people in front of it and then get out of the way.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.

Why the Berean Standard Bible

We use the Berean Standard Bible because it is a careful, readable translation that has been placed in the public domain. No license stands between a family and the words of Scripture. No publisher can decide later that a verse may no longer be quoted. That freedom matters. The Word of God is not a product we rent. It is a gift that has already been given, and we will not put a paywall, a tracker, or a terms-of-service surprise between a reader and a verse.

What we will not do

We build for families, and that decision has a cost we are glad to pay. This website collects no analytics and sets no tracking cookies. Our products do not run ads, do not sell data, and do not watch children in order to market to them. We prefer a one-time purchase to a subscription that never ends. Children under thirteen are never account holders. An adult holds the credentials; a child or teen may have a profile beneath that adult. These are not marketing points. They are the terms on which we are willing to put a Bible in someone's hand.
